The Flatiron Building is at 175 Fifth Avenue, on the triangular block formed by Fifth Avenue, Broadway and East 22nd Street, with 23rd Street crossing its northern point. Stand at that apex and typing “best italian restaurant near me” into a phone will not tell you which of the three streets to take, and they lead to genuinely different blocks. Broadway runs southeast below 23rd Street and northwest above it, so one street name puts you in two different neighborhoods depending on which way you turn. This is organized by direction instead: six Italian rooms, each with the street, the turn and how many minutes it costs.

How the corner works

The building fills the wedge where Fifth Avenue and Broadway cross at 23rd Street. Fifth runs along its west side, Broadway along its east, and East 22nd Street closes the bottom. Above 23rd Street, Broadway swings west of Fifth and heads into NoMad. Below 23rd, Broadway sits east of Fifth and drops toward Union Square. That one fact does most of the navigating here.

Three subway stations are called 23rd Street and none of them is the same place. The R and W stop at Broadway, next to the building. The 6 stops several long blocks east at Park Avenue South. The F and M stop one long avenue block west at Sixth Avenue. Picking the wrong one costs you more time than any of the walks below.

Where to eat near the Flatiron Building, by direction of walk

Three minutes south: Aqua Roma, 902 Broadway

Two blocks down Broadway from the apex, near 20th Street. The kitchen works from Rome, with handmade pasta and wood-grilled dishes, and the site names a mafalde with oxtail ragù and a tiramisu finished at the table. The hours are the widest on this page: 11:30am to midnight Monday through Wednesday, to 1am Thursday and Friday, 11am to 1am Saturday and 11am to midnight Sunday. Lunch runs a la carte on weekdays from noon to 4pm, and a three-course Taste of Roma menu is listed at $60 per person.

Best suited to a late arrival, or to a group that wants pasta at 11pm without having planned for it.

Three minutes west: Zero Otto Nove, 15 West 21st Street

Cross Fifth Avenue at 23rd, walk two blocks south and turn right onto 21st. There is no avenue crossing on the second half of that walk, which matters at rush hour. The name is the telephone code for Salerno, and the kitchen cooks from that part of Campania. Hours are noon to 3pm and 5pm to 9:30pm Monday through Thursday, noon to 3pm and 5pm to 10:30pm on Friday, 5pm to 10:30pm Saturday, and 4pm to 9pm Sunday.

Watch the Sunday times. It opens earlier than most of this stretch and shuts earlier too, which makes it one of the few places nearby that will feed you a proper sit-down dinner at 4:30pm on a Sunday.

Four minutes north on Fifth: Felice Flatiron, 220 Fifth Avenue

Straight up Fifth along the west edge of Madison Square Park to 26th Street. Felice cooks from Tuscan tradition and runs a continuous day: lunch and brunch 11am to 4pm daily, then dinner 4pm to 10pm Sunday through Thursday and to 11pm on Friday and Saturday. A happy hour runs daily at the bar from 3pm to 6pm, and the group lists event spaces and private dining at this address.

Consider this one when the timing is awkward, because it will seat you at 3:45pm without argument.

Four minutes north on Broadway: La Pecora Bianca, 1133 Broadway

Broadway at 26th Street, which above 23rd means west of Fifth Avenue rather than east. Hours are 11:30am to 10pm Monday through Wednesday, to 10:30pm Thursday and Friday, 10am to 10:30pm Saturday and 10am to 9:30pm Sunday. The 10am weekend open is the detail worth knowing, since it covers brunch and dinner in the same room on the same day, which most of this list does not.

Six minutes north: Il Fiorista, 17 West 26th Street

Half a block west of Fifth on 26th. It describes itself as an Italian restaurant, bar and event destination built around botanicals, with a floral boutique and a teaching space at the same address, and it runs cooking classes, floral workshops and a chef’s table alongside normal service. Hours are not published on its site, so call or check before you walk over.

The strongest fit is a dinner that has to feel like an occasion without being a formal one.

Ten minutes north: Scarpetta, 88 Madison Avenue

The longest walk here, up Broadway or Fifth to 29th Street and then east to Madison. Scarpetta sits in the Seville hotel and is known for its pasta, particularly a spaghetti with tomato and basil, along with ravioli of duck and foie gras and a run of seafood crudi. Lunch is 11:30am to 2:30pm Monday through Friday, with no Saturday lunch. Dinner is 5pm to 9pm Monday, to 9:30pm Tuesday through Thursday, to 10pm Friday and Saturday, and to 9pm Sunday. Happy hour at the bar runs 3pm to 6pm on weekdays, with cocktails listed at $22 to $24.

NYC Restaurant Week is running now, 20 July through 16 August 2026, at $30, $45 and $60 per person, Monday through Friday and Sundays. Saturdays are excluded. Beverages, tax and gratuity are not included unless a restaurant says otherwise.

The Flatiron NoMad Partnership lists Zero Otto Nove, Il Fiorista, La Pecora Bianca and Scarpetta among the participating restaurants in the district. Eleven days are left as of 5 August 2026. Confirm the menu and the tier with the restaurant when you book, since both are set per restaurant rather than centrally.
