Priya Raman · October 28, 2026 · 8 min
Italian restaurants near the Theater District, sorted by curtain time: five rooms with published hours, late closes, group rules and menu prices, October 2026.
Via Toscana at 344 West 52nd Street lists 4pm to 12am Tuesday through Sunday, the most midnight closes of the five Italian restaurants checked near the Theater District. Tony’s Di Napoli at 147 West 43rd Street is the one with a post-theater menu, from 10:00 pm to close. Don Giovanni, Bocca di Bacco and Giardino 54 complete the five. Hours, prices and policies come from each restaurant’s own website, checked in October 2026.
Becco, Orso, Lattanzi and the Times Square bowtie rooms are covered in Italian restaurants near Times Square, block by block, and a Lincoln Center curtain in Italian restaurants near Lincoln Center, before the show. This guide covers other rooms. Show schedules were not checked, which makes every curtain time here (2pm, 7pm, 8pm) an example.

The rows run from West 43rd to West 54th Street; Bocca di Bacco’s address, on 9th Avenue, gives no cross street. Via Toscana and Giardino 54 call themselves Hell’s Kitchen.
Five rooms, from West 43rd to West 54th Street
Tony’s Di Napoli, 147 West 43rd Street
Tony’s is the only one of the five to label a menu for the theater: Lunch/Post Theater, 11:30 am to 2:00 pm and again from 10:00 pm to close. Its page prints two sets of hours. A banner gives Sunday to Thursday 11:30AM to 10PM and Friday and Saturday 11PM; the location block, repeated on the Parties/Groups and Reservations pages, gives Tuesday to Saturday 11PM and Sunday and Monday 10PM. Only Tuesday to Thursday differs, 10PM or 11PM, so call (212) 221-0100. On Sunday and Monday both say 10PM, so a menu that starts at 10:00 pm has no printed window; ask whether it is served. Its platter sizes and half-order rule are in Italian restaurants near Bryant Park and the Winter Village.
Don Giovanni, 358 West 44th Street
The site puts Don Giovanni “just steps away from the Theater District.” Pizza comes from a coal-fired brick oven, with a Margherita at $16 small and $26 large. Pastas run from $14 for spaghetti or penne with garlic and oil to $30 for linguine frutti del mare; the $14 floor is 11 dollars below the lowest pasta on Bocca di Bacco’s dinner menu and 12 dollars below Via Toscana’s lowest table-service pasta. The footer prints the 44th Street hours as “Open Daily: 5.00 – 10.30,” without am or pm, so confirm at 212.581.4939.
Bocca di Bacco, 635 9th Avenue
The Theater District page lists 12pm to 10pm Sunday through Tuesday, 12pm to 11pm Wednesday and Thursday, and 12pm to 12am Friday and Saturday, so it serves through the afternoon every day. The menus page marks its dinner menu “Available All Day Long,” with pastas from $25 for spaghetti cacio e pepe to $38 for linguine al pescatore. A Lunch Prix Fixe appears as “3 Courses $25,” but no days or hours are printed beside it, so confirm before planning a lunch around it. The phone is (212) 262-2525.
Via Toscana, 344 West 52nd Street
Via Toscana is closed Monday and otherwise opens at 4pm. Its home page says it is situated near Times Square; the phone is (646)-906-3192. Pastas run from $26 for spaghetto al filetto di pomodoro to $36 for crab-stuffed tagliatelle in lobster bisque. A separate Pasta Bar menu lists $10 pastas marked “only BAR (NO table),” with no hours printed, so ask when it is served.
Giardino 54, 400 1/2 West 54th Street
Giardino 54 says it is “just off the corner of 9th Avenue and 54th St.” Dinner runs 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm Monday to Thursday and Sunday and to 11:00 pm Friday and Saturday. The dinner menu prints pastas as bare numbers, 22 to 29, with no currency symbol, so confirm prices at (646) 726-4575. Its happy hour page runs the bar from 10 pm to close every day, yet dinner ends at 10:00 pm on five nights and no later close is printed, so ask how late the bar stays open. The dinner menu also states an Operating Fee of 3.35% on all orders and a 3.25% discount for cash.
What time should dinner start before a 7pm or 8pm curtain?
The curtain times here are examples, not show times, and the rules below assume a 90-minute table plus the walk, an editorial allowance rather than a published figure.
- 2pm matinee: Tony’s (from 11:30AM, lunch menu to 2:00 pm) and Bocca di Bacco (from 12pm daily) are the daytime rooms, and Giardino 54 serves brunch from 11:00 am on Saturday and Sunday. Via Toscana and weekday Giardino 54 open at 4pm, and Don Giovanni lists 5.00 (confirm), so those three suit a table after the matinee.
- 7pm curtain: Giardino 54 and Via Toscana start at 4pm, which leaves room for that allowance, and Don Giovanni is listed from 5.00, to confirm. On Monday Via Toscana is closed, which leaves four rooms.
- 8pm curtain: all five list service from 5.00 or earlier on the days they open (Don Giovanni’s 5.00 to confirm), so an early-evening table works anywhere. What separates them is the close.
Italian near the Theater District after the show, night by night
Counting only a published close later than 10pm, and leaving out Don Giovanni’s 10.30 because it has no am or pm, the nights sort like this as of October 2026:
- Sunday: one of five. Via Toscana lists 12am; Tony’s and Bocca di Bacco list 10pm, and Giardino 54 lists dinner to 10pm.
- Monday: none. Via Toscana is closed, and Tony’s, Bocca di Bacco and Giardino 54 list 10pm.
- Tuesday: Via Toscana to 12am, and Tony’s if its 11PM location-block listing is the right one.
- Wednesday and Thursday: Via Toscana to 12am and Bocca di Bacco to 11pm, plus Tony’s if its 11PM location-block listing is the right one.
- Friday and Saturday: four of five. Bocca di Bacco and Via Toscana list 12am; Tony’s and Giardino 54 list 11pm.
Tony’s post-theater menu and Giardino 54’s bar happy hour both start at 10 pm, but neither page prints a later close for the nights it lists 10pm, so call before relying on either.
Is there Italian near the Theater District on a Sunday or Monday night?
Sunday has one late room among the five and Monday none, so two rooms from other guides on this site fill the gap. La Masseria, at 235 West 48th Street and covered in the Times Square guide, lists dinner to 12 AM Tuesday through Saturday, to 11 PM on Monday and, from 12 PM, to 10:30 PM on Sunday. Osteria La Baia, at 129 West 52nd Street, lists 11PM on Monday and is in Italian restaurants near Rockefeller Center and Radio City. Where to eat Italian after 10pm in Manhattan covers later kitchens across the borough.
Best for groups: what each room publishes
Of the pages read, only Via Toscana’s prints a headcount for its own location: private events for up to 50 guests. At Tony’s, all parties of 15 or more require a party package. Don Giovanni recommends that parties above six call ahead and adds 18% gratuity for in-house parties of 4 or more. Giardino 54 points large groups to its indoor Back Garden and a Large-Party Prix Fixe by email or phone, with no capacity given. Bocca di Bacco’s private-dining page lists capacities only for its Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen rooms, not the Theater District one.
How these five were chosen
Each is an Italian restaurant whose own site gives a West 43rd to West 54th Street address or a Theater District label, publishes hours and offers one more checkable detail. Tony’s current menu PDFs are image scans, so no Tony’s dish prices are quoted. A number printed with no dollar sign or am or pm is flagged to confirm.
